Studying effectively requires a lot of motivation, otherwise you will be just staring down at the pages with no outcome. Sometimes we get so overwhelmed with the amount of syllabus, the number of books that we have to read and the materials that we have to refer. Without some kind of motivation, it becomes difficult to even just start with the studying, let alone continuing it for a long period of time!
When you have a lot to study but don't know how to motivate yourself to keep going then following some techniques that help to keep your spirits high will be really helpful. I like to follow some techniques and activities that really help me to stay motivated to study for long hours. So let's start!
1. Always Plan Your Study Days
Planning plays a huge part in getting things done in general and when it comes to studying, it has to be the first step of the whole process. Always plan the topics or the chapters that you want to read on a particular day. This will give you a clear view of what is to be done and you will be able to achieve your study goals sooner. This helps to stay motivated to study as you get a set of things that you need to do and not feel completely lost about what to do next.
Make a list of the topics that you want to study and you can also allot time periods to it if you want but I like to just list out the topics as most of the times it's difficult to determine the time a chapter will take to finish off. I focus on completing the topics for that day instead of stressing on the time that it is taking to get completed.
2. Take Small Study Breaks
Study breaks should be small and not too long that you loose the flow of whatever you were studying. Try to take 5 to 10 minutes of breaks in between study sessions and then get back to it right away, otherwise you will loose focus and it will be difficult to study for long hours.
To stay motivated to study you can do something that interests you in these study breaks but keep in mind to limit your time on your phone. You can take a walk outside for fresh air or get some healthy snacks during this time too.
3. Listen To Study/Relaxing Music
There are plenty of study music and relaxing/calming music available on youtube or other platforms that you can listen to while studying. When you struggle with focusing on your studies but still need to get things done, then listening to some music helps to bring that focus back to what you were doing.
Music definitely helps to stay motivated to study and grows interest into whatever you are doing and make it more fun. Choose some music that does not have too much chaos like piano or guitar instrumentals which work really well.
4. Have The Mindset Of Gaining Knowledge
Whatever you study ultimately adds up to your knowledge base. Keeping this thing in mind will help you in studying more because you will be getting a lot of information and gaining knowledge which will help in building your credibility.
Always think in a way that whatever you study, it will help you in the future to achieve your bigger goals and this will help you to stay motivated to study. Don't study just because you have to give an exam but with the thought that the knowledge will be with you throughout your life.
5. Watch Study Videos
Study videos that I watch on youtube are a major part of my study motivation. Whenever I feel like not studying I watch some study videos, study vlogs, study with me videos and that really helps me to stay motivated to study. You can also watch motivational videos that set a positive mindset for you to start your studying and continue with it for long hours.
Studying requires a lot of focus and determination to keep up the flow and motivation goes a long way in getting the work done effectively. We need to breakthrough the obstacles and learn how to prioritize things so that we can achieve our goals faster in life. Do you have any other techniques that you follow to motivate yourself to study? Do share your thoughts!
